DAY 01: MUMBAI Arrival 14:30 – Departure 14:40

Expect the unexpected during the Heritage of India Train trail. Suffused with the indulgence of the yore, this heritage trail is an enriching experience one would be cherishing for the entire lifetime. As you roll on to each destination, you will find everything in India is laced in luxury, flamboyance and heritage. Assemble in the afternoon at 14:30 hr at Hotel Taj Mahal Palace & Towers for a traditional Indian welcome and complete your registration and check in formalities for the Maharajas' Express. At 16:40 hrs, you will begin your worthy weekend onboard from Mumbai by boarding the Heritage of India – Maharajas' Express Train. Experience the absolute indulgence aboard of the great kings in this selected train itinerary. Choice of Dinner will be served onboard.

DAY 02: AJANTA CAVES

Morning you will be transported to Ajanta Caves via Aurangabad. These Buddhist caves belong to the ancient 2nd-6th century era, the time period during which the rock caves became a sole specimen of artistic brilliance. This world heritage cave complex consists of 30 caves including some unfinished caves. Original purpose of these caves was to provide shelter to travelling monks during rains. But later it became an example of artistic brilliance of monks who chiseled and hammered life of Lord Buddha on a rock canvas. Breakfast, lunch & dinner will be served onboard amidst luxuries. Overnight on the Maharajas' Express.

DAY 03: UDAIPUR

Begin your Day 3 in the ultimate setting of Udaipur, one of the most romantic cities of India. Popularly known as the 'Venice of the East', this enchanting Sisodiya kingdom is famous for lakes, white marble palaces and green hills. Begin your day in Udaipur from the City Palace, the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. Later visit the Crystal Gallery showcasing one of the largest and finest crystal collections worldwide.

After enjoying lunch at an exclusive venue in Udaipur, you have the remaining day at your choice. You can relax in your fully furnished coupe kingdom of Maharajas' Express OR you can enjoy the spa facilities in the five star hotel. The other options can also be availed to make this day an ultimate delight. You can see the Vintage Car collection owned by the Royal Family OR you can also opt for a private shopping session. Later in the afternoon, you can even proceed for a 'Walking Tour' through the Old Market of Udaipur.

Return to your Maharajas' Express and continue journey towards blue hued Jodhpur. Breakfast on board; Lunch at Durbar Hall; Dinner on board. Overnight in the train.

DAY 04: JODHPUR

The city cool of Rajasthan, Jodhpur presents the authentic heritage of Marwar region. Relish your sumptuous breakfast while you are being transported to Marwari kingdom, Jodhpur. Morning is at leisure in the train or you can avail the optional tour to Bishnoi Village. The special feature of this village is that they are the oldest living environmentalists in the world. The morning can also be utilized to avail spa facility at a 5 star hotel.

Later in the noon, proceed on a walking tour of the Old Clock Tower bazaar for its colourful markets. Continue your excursion to the magnificent Meherangarh Fort. Later, savour cocktail dinner at Hanwant Mahal accompanied with folk dance and music.

Highlights of Day 4 - Visit blue city and indulge in the cocktail dinner with a cultural performance, right from the heart of Rajasthan.

DAY 05: BIKANER

The land of Bikaner beams golden hues, thanks to its wide stretch of desert. Begin your stint in Bikaner with a visit to Lalgarh Palace Museum, displaying the city's finest royal exhibits OR you can embark on an excursion to Deshnok's Karni Mata Temple, famous as 'Rat Temple'. This temple complex boasts of hundreds of rats swarming around the courtyard. Another option to begin the Bikaner tour is by paying a visit to the Camel Breeding Farm (opens at 12:00 hrs).

Following lunch, pay a visit to the Junagarh Fort, an impregnable fortress built in 1593 AD by Raja Rai Singh. Explore the enchanting structures inside the fort complex. Further in Bikaner, you can participate in a Camel-Cart Procession followed by sundowner cocktails, barbecue and folk performance on the sand dunes that will mesmerize you.

DAY 06: JAIPUR

The capital of the kings, Jaipur is the planned city of Rajasthan known for its palaces, forts and majestic monuments. Proceed towards this pink city with an Exhibition Elephant Polo Match and experience a royal welcome at Jai Mahal Palace Hotel. You can even participate in the exhibition game besides watching this royal game. Following the match will be Champagne lunch at a Jai Mahal Palace hotel. Post lunch; visit the impregnable Amber Fort, one of the most recognized structures of Jaipur. Later after excursion to the fort, visit the colourful markets of Jaipur where you can shop some souvenirs in the form of the finest jewellery, textiles and blue pottery. The free time can be utilized with options including Spa/Golfing/visit to City Palace, etc.

DAY 07: SAWAI MADHOPUR (RANTHAMBORE) – FATEHPUR SIKRI

Give a wild touch to the Day 7 with an exhilarating quest to catch the elusive tigers at Ranthambore. Early morning embark on an exciting game drive into Ranthambore National Park in Sawai Madhopur. After morning meal at Vivanta by Taj, Sawai Madhopur, return to the Maharajas' Express and continue your journey to the fabled ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri. Marvel at this self sufficient planned Mughal city complex featuring prominent structures such as Jami Masjid, Buland-Darwaza and tomb of Sheikh Salim Chishti, the Sufi saint. Other attractions of Fatehpur Sikri include Khas Mahal, Shahi-Bazar, Anup-Talao, Chaupar, Diwan-i-Am, Diwan-i-Khaas, Mina-Bazar, the Panch-Mahal and Khwabgah. The efficient drainage system and water-supply adopted here suggest an extremely intelligent town-planning by Akbar, the third Mughal emperor.

DAY 08: AGRA – DELHI (DISEMBARK- 1500 HRS)

As the Heritage of India train comes to herald, here you get a chance to marvel at the monument in marble, Taj Mahal in Agra. Visit the Taj wrapped in the early morning orange hues and marvel at its divine beauty. The visit is followed by Champagne breakfast atop Taj Khema gazing at the majestic brilliance Taj Mahal. Enjoy the lunch onboard as you continue the last lap of this heritage journey to Delhi. Bid adieu to the Maharajas' Express as your journey comes to herald at approximately 15:30 hours on arrival into Safdarjung Railway Station.
