Lying in the Aravalli Hills, north of Jaipur, Samode Palace is a fine example of Rajput-Mughal architecture and boasts some of the finest frescoes and mirror-work in the state. The owners are very much involved with the running of the property and it is their exquisite taste which has produced some of the most stunning rooms and suites to be found in any heritage hotel. The age and architecture of the building does not allow for a lift and it may not suit those less firm on their feet. Both swimming pools are lovely although the roof top pool, exclusively for tailormade guests is our favourite. Meals are served in the intimate courtyards or on the roof terrace under the stars. The surrounding village and hills are lovely to stroll around.
