Formerly the Aman New Delhi, this hotel was taken over in 2013 and is currently one of the best hotels in the city. The Lodhi is located in a lively but very green area of Delhi, close to the Delhi Golf Course and the city's Lodhi Gardens, from which it takes its name. The ambience is hushed and the décor is slick and sleek, drawing in a cool crowd of Delhi socialites. Many of the same staff have stayed on since the Aman era meaning that the hotel has managed to maintain a similar level of service and attention to detail. Each of the 40 rooms are the size of a small apartment and come with a very generous sitting area, workstation, dressing room and spacious bathrooms; best of all, they each have their own private plunge pool. The Lodhi has a luxurious spa, a state of the gym and fitness centre, a 50m swimming pool and tennis and squash courts. There are two restaurants, the OTW - an entirely glass room jutting over the hotel's water feature pond - and the more casual Elan. People who prefer history and Colonial art will be happier at the Imperial and for high-octane Indian glamour the Leela Palace Delhi is perfect. The Lodhi, on the other hand, is well suited to those looking for understated and contemporary luxury.
